Stenico

A majestic castle, a foaming waterfall and an enchanted forest. Have you ever dreamed of living in the times of knights and princesses?

Stenico, a noble village that seems frozen in time, is the ideal place to make your dream come true.

Castel Stenico

You can almost smell the history infused in the buildings. Life moves slowly like in the mediaeval era, when Stenico was an important place and Castel Stenico was the residence of the Prince Bishop of Trento. Standing atop a rocky buttress and dominating the whole valley, this imposing mediaeval fortress, elegant Renaissance home and Austro-Hungarian barracks during World War I is one of the best preserved castles in the whole of Trentino. The Castello del Buonconsiglio museum in Trento houses a series of frescoes depicting the passing of the seasons. The January panel shows Castel Stenico behind a lady and a knight enjoying a snowball fight.

Rio Bianco waterfall

The waters of the Rio Bianco waterfall are as white as snow From the castle, you can see them in the distance and hear their roar. But it is from the bridge above the cascade that you really appreciate their raw power.

But be aware! This is only a temporary waterfall. It doesn’t flow in autumn and winter, before exploding into life in summer with bright white water that plummets noisily, bringing cool refreshment. This is why the plants and flowers thrive in the nearby botanical garden, within the boundaries of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park protected area, or in the adjacent forest known as the ‘BoscoArteStenico’, the Stenico Forest of Art.

Bosco Arte Stenico

An open-air museum made entirely from nature’s gifts. A contemporary art trail. The works of art have been made using forest materials. Works of art which nature transforms with the changing of the seasons and the passing of time.

Par Ieri Ethnographic Museum

The stories of the past told by the Par Ieri Ethnographic Museum. Located at the foot of the castle, it features 3,000 objects from local culture. A trove of authentic life stories.
