The lakes and waterfalls of Trentino
It is said that in a cave close to the Sarca River lived a soothsayer who guarded the precious, magical water. These were the waters of the Terme di Comano spa, still used to treat skin conditions.
The water in the Comano Valley, as well as its curative properties, has carved out some magnificent landscapes.
A source of energy!
From the high peaks of the Brenta Dolomites springs the spectacular Rio Bianco waterfall in Stenico. With its foaming, sparkling and seasonal waters. The best time to admire the waterfall in all its glory is in spring and summer.
The waterfall doesn’t flow in the coldest months of the year, coming back to life with full force in spring. And this spectacular show of nature has also been an important source of energy; look carefully at the foot of the waterfall and you will see a number of old watermills.
To this day, the water is not wasted, being used to generate clean energy for the valley in the Ponte Pià hydroelectric power station. And there’s more! The show continues at the Limarò gorge. Just a few kilometres from the spa, the Sarca river has carved out enormous natural sculptures. Something every visitor should see! And how best to explore it? By following the blue markers of the Sentiero dell’Acqua trail! Enjoy the adventure!
Come on in, it's so bracing!
Not many people are brave enough to paddle in the crystal-clear but cold waters of Lake Nembia. An oasis of peace and quiet between San Lorenzo and Lake Molveno.
With its emerald green colour, nestling below sheer rock faces, it is an ideal place for families with children and for walks and hikes in the countryside.
