Stefano Zanoni, UNESCO biosphere reserve officer

My name is Stefano Zanoni, I am self-employed, and I have been handling the UNESCO biosphere reserve certification of my valley since the project began, first for my studies and then for work.

I am passionate about it. I really believe in this initiative which I have been lucky enough to work on and I’m proud of the result: I am fortunate to be able to contribute to making my wonderful valley a biosphere reserve.

I think it is a great opportunity for the area to open up the world and become better known. We have shown that it is possible to live sustainably and in harmony with the environment.

What can you do with me?

My valley is unique, we could talk about its stunning sights and visit the area together, exploring the relationship between people and the environment, the key aspects of the UNESCO program. A relationship which is not always easy but which is still going strong after all these centuries.

When I’m not working, I love to get up early and go for a walk, trying to identify every plant I come across along the way. Where possible, I collect some samples and put them in my collection after studying them. No one place in the valley is better than any other; everywhere has something to offer.
